This month is going quite well, I must say. It's not even mid-month yet, and I've managed to talk and help a few people with my Shaklee part-time-at-the-moment business.
A case in point is my long-lost cousin. I found her on Facebook, She has been battling a debilitating mystery disease for the past nine years. When I saw her in late August, she was on crutches, bent over, in pain, and her speech was riddled with stutters. Having had the opportunity to talk to her on the phone beforehand and listen to her plight, I visited her with one of my cans of Shaklee Instant Soya Protein Powder, a bottle of body and hand cream, and my enthusiasm.
I recommended that she take one tablespoon of the powder every day in a glass of juice or on her cereal or with water; and she did so for the next six weeks without fail. Her birthday was on September 26, and I invited her out to lunch. I was not sure if she had to order one of those handicap buses to help with her electric wheelchair, or if she was going to use her crutches and get in the car with me. She told me on the phone, I'll come in the car with you.
Well, imagine my surprise when she was waiting for me in front of her apartment building, crutch-free and standing to her full height of 5'11". I was stunned and so proud to see her get in the car almost unassisted. She was still wobbly and her footing was a little unsure, but she was standing and walking. After lunch, I told her we would go to the mall, a place she hadn't been in a very long time. I thought we would slowly make it to a bench and watch the crowd, but lo and behold, my cousin wanted to walk the whole mall with me. We did very slowly, and she was sweating bullets, but was she ever happy to be walking around without her crutches.
Further, during our conversation on her birthday, I noticed her stutters were almost completely gone. She realized that too at the same time. Then, she ran out about a week and a half ago; she did not tell me. She is on a very limited income, and I suppose she felt she could not afford to buy the next can of Soya Protein.
It did not take me long to realize she was not taking the protein because her speech on the phone was becoming laboured again. I sent her another can, and she received it today. She immediately started taking it.
I am so happy that this is helping her, and I hope that in the very near future, my cousin will be able to get back to the workforce and take charge of her health and life again. She is a good person, and deserves to have a better future.
