May 10th, and it's Mother's Day. Wow! I was saying to my husband that after all these years, I still find it difficult that my sons celebrate me as their mother.
I married in my early thirties, and so I always took care of my parents; I'm the one who always celebrated my mother for Mother's Day. Now, however, I'm being celebrated!
I just had one of the best Mother's Day. My youngest, whose room looked like a tornado hit it, and on whose furniture dust was starting to sprout feet and crawl, cleaned his room from top to bottom. When I walked into his room, I honestly thought I had entered an alternate universe! And I had just come back from seeing the new Star Trek movie at the theatre.
My oldest, who's in CEGEP, has a few more days of classes and exams, and he'll be off until the last week of August. He told me he will be cleaning his room on Wednesday or Thursday. Hmm! Maybe I am on an alternate universe!
Gerry took me out for breakfast, then we went to see the movie at noon, our lunch was popcorn, and I was a good girl, I asked to have a glass of water instead of a soft drink. Tonight he made a really nice dinner, and the boys just kept hugging and kissing me. My sons pooled their money, and gave me a gift card for Chez Cora, and they promised that when I am ready to go there, we will have a family breakfast all together.
Aaaaah! I love this alternate universe. I think I'll stay!
