A Story of the Past

Years ago, I used to have many headaches and body aches. It didn't make sense because I would go to the doctor, and he couldn't find anything physically wrong. Test after test, no one still could not say what caused the headaches. Some days, nausea would set in, and once those came, I would have to miss work, stay in bed, take lots of acetaminophen, and sleep it off. This went on for most of my teen years, and a good chunk of my adulthood.

My first son, who had a bad case of eczema when he was a baby, had rashes all over his body, including his ears and inside the nose. In 1992, I was eight months pregnant with my second son, and the eldest was 21 monhts old at the time. My husband and I lived in Ottawa then, and one weekend I attended a Welcome Wagon Baby Shower trade show. During this event, there were presenters from the different sponsor companies talking their shpiel. One particular presenter caught my attention. She talked about how all her life she had allergies and unexplained headaches, and her four children were having their own issues with allergies. Then she discovered that the toxic products she used around the house seemed to be the main cause of her health problems. She did her homework, and found a company that, since 1956, creates products that improve the health of people and the planet. That got my attention.

I visited her kiosk immediately, and asked for more information. I liked what I was hearing, and put in my name for a visit, only I made it clear I wanted the visit asap. Less than a week later, a representative came to my home; she made some samples for me to use. One was an all purpose cleaner, and the other samples were for the laundry. At the time, the rep told me that for babies who have sensitive skin like my older son had, sometimes the baby soap and laundry detergent just may cause more irritation. She had left me enough cleanser to do a few loads of wash.

Well, right away, I noticed that my son's skin was less irritated, the white spots were disappearing the more I used the non toxic products. It's been 17 years, and you know what, my headaches disappeared a few months after I started using the cleaning products, and I have never looked back. I didn't lose the power of cleaning, and, by using the safer, smarter, non toxic products, I also have contributed to making the earth a cleaner, less toxic environment for my children.
